It’s so much more complicated than that……the five thousand year history of a region (and the more recent 63 year history of that same region) cannot be reduced to or dismissively explained by 29 words on poster boards — not should it be. It’s not a “situation” that can be explained in a “nutshell.”
The history is, yes, beyond complicated. The immediate situation for people on the ground, however, is exactly that.
Israel as it exists today is a created state. Yes, it’s remarkably complicated, and there’s a lot of pre-existing conflict that goes into what’s going on there now, but it has been undeniably and irrevocably exacerbated by the creation and subsequent management of the Israeli state at the direct expense of Palestinians. Neither group—really, no country, as just about all countries have taken an official stance on Israel/Palestine—is completely blameless in what’s going on there.
Politics, like it or not, is about the people on the ground. As much distance as there seems to be between policy and the individual, the fact remains that policies do impact people. These posters demonstrate the impact of a particular set of policies on a particular set of people.
